We had just filmed Johnston Covered Bridge when we learned Hannaway Covered Bridge was right around the corner. It was too close—and too interesting—to pass up.
What drew us in was the construction: the exposed timber work, unusual shape, and the chance to see another historic bridge still standing where it was built.

WHAT WE FOUND
Hannaway still spans Clear Creek at its original crossing and rests on its original sandstone abutments. Its most distinctive feature is a canopy on only one side—a practical design that once helped travelers see approaching traffic where the road curved.

Park at nearby Johnston Covered Bridge in Two Glaciers Park. Hannaway is visible along Clearport Road.
The Park District states there is no public access onto Hannaway Covered Bridge. View it cautiously from the road area and do not enter the structure.
Use extra care along Clearport Road. This is a historic roadside structure, not a pedestrian bridge stop.
